Without the selfless philanthropic support by members of the community, corporations, foundations and organizations in recent years, The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center would not be possible. Gifts to The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center come in all sizes and shapes. All are appreciated. These are some of the popular ways for people to show their support, but many other opportunities exist, as well. Whether your gift is modest or generous, every dollar helps patients in our community receive world-class cancer care.

Stepping Forward Survivorship Fund
For cancer patients, one of the most important elements of overcoming their diagnosis is having hope for the future. Often that future comes with challenging questions. Those questions are addressed in HLRCC’s groundbreaking survivorship program, Stepping Forward, which addresses the needs of cancer survivors and provides them with an effective post-treatment plan for care, disease prevention and support, including physical therapy, oncology rehabilitation, emotional support, nutritional guidance, exercise, complementary therapies and educational seminars featuring inspirational and informative speakers.
Because the Stepping Forward program is free to all participants, maintaining adequate funding is critical. With your help, the Leever Cancer Center is looking forward to adding even more services to the program and expanding it to all other cancer patients.
Planned Giving
The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center offers a wide array of plans that can be tailored for the unique needs of donors. Some, such as charitable remainder trusts and gift annuities, can even provide you with income, as well as significant tax benefits. In addition, gifts of securities, real estate and life assurance are welcome. We recommend that you discuss your plans with professional advisors to determine which way of giving would be best for you.

Indigent Care Fund
Gifts to HLRCC may be designated for the Indigent Care Fund. The Indigent Care Fund was created to provide funds for patient treatment and associated expenses for those who are not insured or who are experiencing a particular, specific, short-term need. The Indigent Care Fund is accessed through the Social Worker at HLRCC who will assess each situation on an individual patient and request necessary funds from HLRCC.
The Jeanne B. Tassis Lymphedema Garment Fund
The Garment Fund is designed to provide assistance for those living in the service area of the Leever Cancer Center who are truly at a financial disadvantage, and are unable to afford the cost of lymphedema compression garments. (The HLRCC service area includes Waterbury, Watertown, Prospect, Thomaston, Oxford, Middlebury, Southbury, Woodbury, Bethlehem, Wolcott, Cheshire, Beacon Falls and Naugatuck.) The Garment Fund is accessed through completion and submission of the Jeanne B. Tassis Lymphedema Garment Fund Application. A committee consisting of certified Lymphedema Therapists and a representative from HLRCC will review and evaluate each application. If selected, the applicant will receive up to $200 towards the cost of their compression garments.
